Event Details

On the Day

The day promises to be fun and exciting for everyone. We have a great MC, band and other entertainment organised ready to give you the best possible experience. On the day we are asking that each participant check in and have the vaccination status confirmed as you must be fully vaxxed in order to attend this event.

To make the day as safe and fun as possible we ask that everyone take the follow steps:

  1. Register prior to the event.
  2. Turn up a minimum of 25-30 minutes prior to their start time.
  3. Enter via the check in marquees located at the front of Federation Square (St Kilda Road side)
  4. Check In upon arrival and you will receive a blue Fight Parkinson's wristband.
  5. Once checked-in you are free to pick up any merchandise and take part in our fun pre-event warm ups and enjoy our great entertainment. Merchandise will also be available for sale.
  6. After the warm up you will head down to the start line and then complete the walk.
  7. After the walk you are free to continue to enjoy our great entertainment or head home.

If you are feeling unwell on the day, we ask that you don't attend. The safety of the Parkinson's community is our number one priority. 

Seating - There will be seating provided on the day in front the stage for anyone who needs to sit. Best of all it is prime location for watching the band!

Toilets and Accessibility - We will be utilizing the toilets at Federation Square to ensure that there is full accessibility for all people. For more information around accessibility at Federation Square please visit For a map of the area with toilet please visit -

Mobility aids - Traveller’s Aid Australia offers mobility equipment for hire from Flinders Street Station. It is recommended that you book ahead for all equipment hire to ensure that you don’t miss out. A $20 deposit is required for all equipment, which is reimbursed upon return of equipment. Wheelchair access - Federation Square has a number of wheelchair and pram-friendly ramps and lifts, and a carpark onsite. In addition, the entire route (4km and 2km short-cut) is located on footpaths and is wheelchair and pram accessible.

Food - Grab yourself a sausage and cold drink. Proudly managed by the Rotary Club of Glenferrie, all proceeds from the BBQ will be donated to Fight Parkinson’s.

Water - Fill up your water bottle at water stations located along both courses and in Federation Square, near the steps to River Terrace. You can also purchase bottled water from the BBQ marquee.

Merchandise - New Fight Parkinson’s drink bottles and caps will be available for purchase on the day.

Storage - There are no storage facilities available on site, so try to limit what you bring to the event. Travellers Aid Australia at Flinders Street Station provides storage facilities. Visit for details.

First Aid - Should you require first aid attendance within Federation Square, medics will be available on the day. If you are on the course and in need of medical attention, please notify your nearest Course Marshall, wearing a yellow volunteer t-shirt, and a medic will be called.

Walking in your local area?

If you choose to go for a walk in your local area on your day you can choose whatever time best suits you. We will also love to see photos so make sure you and your team all have your A Walk in the Park t-shirts on and share your photos on social media using the hashtag #fightparkinsons and #awalkinthepark.

COVID Safety

A Walk in the Park will adhere to all relevant Government guidelines implemented at the time of the event to ensure our community can take part in the safest possible way. To attend, each entrant over the age of 12 must be fully vaccinated or have a valid medical exemption.

For the first time we have also created two start times so we can reduce the amount of congestion and allow for more social distancing. The start times will be 10:15am and 11am. You can choose what time best suits you when registering.

In addition to this on the day

  • Each entrant must check in and prove their vaccination status
  • Sanitizing stations will be provided

Transport and Parking

Public transport is the easiest way in which to arrive at Federation Square. Flinders Street Station is just across the road with all major train lines coming into Flinders Street. In addition to this, many major tram routes also stop outside Federation Square.

Event Map

Enter Federation Square directly opposite Flinders Street Station where you will be able to check in. From there you will be able to roam the Fed Square prescint enjoying the amazing entertainment we have lined up.

The walk will exit Federation Square along Birrarung Marr along the river and then return to Federation Square.

You can choose to either do the 4km route, or there is a 2km route with a cut through.
