A Walk in a Park 2026

Support me as I take part in A Walk in the Park 2026

As many of you are aware, Dad has been diagnosed with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), a rare brain disease that affects walking, balance, eye movements, and swallowing. He now requires 24/7 care and uses a wheelchair.

PSP is frequently misdiagnosed as Parkinson’s disease, a condition that affects people from all walks of life. Current estimates suggest that approximately 1,800 people are living with PSP in Australia, ~20,000 in the United States, and ~400,000 worldwide.

There is currently no cure for PSP. Its progressive nature means that symptoms vary from person to person. While some treatments may help manage quality of life, they are limited to Parkinson’s medications, physiotherapy and occupational therapy, speech and swallowing therapy, and supportive and palliative care.

As a family, we are excited to take part in the 2026 ‘A Walk in the Park for Fight Parkinson’s’ on Sunday, April 19. This year marks the 15th anniversary of the event, which helps lift the lid on Parkinson’s by raising awareness and vital funds to support the Parkinson’s community.

Please join us in our fundraising walk to help those living with Parkinson’s access the valuable support they need to live a full life.

Your support is truly appreciated.

Thank you,
